Help… What does my colorist mean when she says tone
The What:
Think of a box of all blue crayons. You have midnight blue, navy blue, and aqua blue. These are all blue crayons but they have different tones. Now apply that to haircolor. Platinum, golden, strawberry and beige are all different tones of blonde hair.
The How:
Toner/ Gloss/ Glaze can adjust the tone of your haircolor. It helps to fix or neutralize unwanted tones of your haircolor.
The Why:
After about 4 weeks your hair will lose the tone. This depends how often you wash, dry or use hot tools on your hair.
The Tip:
Always use a shampoo for color treated hair. Double down by adding a toning shampoo. A toning shampoo has a small amount of color in it to help neutralize brassiness or some help to add warmth to the hair.
